Sharing And Visibility¶
SecondPage Pages can be private, visible to an organization, or public.
Visibility and sharing decide who can open a Page. They do not decide whether the Page must stay in each person's My Pages collection.
Visibility Levels¶
| Visibility | Use when |
|---|---|
| Private | Only selected people should have access. |
| Organization | Everyone in the organization can view the Page. |
| Public | Anyone with the link can view the Page. |
If you are unsure, start private. You can broaden access later.
Share A Page¶
- Open Pages.
- Open the Page action menu.
- Select Share.
- Choose the visibility or invite specific people by email.
- Copy the Page link or send the invite.
Depending on your role, you may be able to grant people view, comment, or edit access.
Sending A Public Link¶
SecondPage sends the invite email for you only if you own the Page, work in its organization, or the Page was shared with you directly.
If you opened a public Page through its link and have no other connection to it, Share gives you the link and a copy button. You can still pass the link on yourself from your own email or chat.
Access Versus My Pages¶
A direct share adds the Page to that person's My Pages. Organization or public visibility makes a Page available without automatically adding it to every person's collection.
A person can remove a shared Page from My Pages without deleting the source or revoking the share. They can still open the direct link while their access remains valid. Saving it again changes only their personal collection.
A saved shortcut is also not permission. SecondPage checks the source Page again whenever the shortcut is listed or opened. If the source is deleted, archived, made private, or otherwise unavailable to that person, the shortcut stops exposing it.
Access Requests¶
If someone opens a Page they cannot view, they land on a "You need access" screen where they can choose Viewer, Commenter, or Editor and send a request with an optional message. Managers or the Page owner can approve or deny the request from the Page sharing controls.
Sending A Public Link By Email¶
On a Page set to public, you can send the public link to someone by email directly from the Share dialog. This is a notification, not an access grant: it does not add the recipient to the People list or change who owns the Page. Anyone with the link already has the same access under public visibility, so treat it the same way you would treat any public link: share it only with people you are comfortable having it.
